Tips for applying to grad school?

A little background, first. I've been out school for one year. I have a BA in English and am interested in getting an MFA in creative writing. I honestly have no idea what I have to do, and in what order, to get things started. I was also wondering if anyone knows of any good MFA programs. I think I'd like to stay on the east coast, but I wouldn't mind venturing out of New England.
