Getting rid of my 2 female cats?

My cats are still kinda young (a little over a year old for the one and a little over 6mos for the other.) Would giving them away scar them for the rest of their lives? I really want to get rid of them. I don't really 'love' them anymore. They break things, the one eats stuff and then gets sick (even if we cover our trash bin she still manages to rummage through it like a dog), because they get into stuff we have to keep almost everything away (like nick-nacks and whatnot.) They both have become a complete nuisance in our lives (both my partners and I). But, will they be scarred or will they adjust to new owners?
