Where do plants get the carbon dioixde for photosynthesis in an aquarium?

We are doing a closed ecosystem project in school that has saran wrap covering our tanks with a lamp shining on it. So could I say it gets CO2 from the oxygen of the fish and the light energy from the lamp? is that correct?
